Cochabamba, Altiplano, Bolivia 26-6-2010

Odometer: 8389.1 miles

Wanted to stay only one night as Cochabamba is not known for excitement. We ended up staying 2. After getting off the salt flats we thought it would be a good idea to get all the salt off the bikes and had them washed. The next day Laurent’s bike would not start. We searched for the problem for over 3 hours and found nothing. Finally we arced it across the starter to get it running. That worked so we thought we could survive. Laurent went and found an automotive electrician who, on a Sunday, was willing to work on it till 14:00, then, heck or high water, was going to watch the world cup. It only took half an hour with an ohmmeter to isolate the short in the clutch. So by 13:45 we too were in front of the tube to see Argentina advance.

Soccer is the way of life in South America.
