Cuenca, Azuay, Ecuador 8-8-10

Odometer: 11849.1 miles

After crossing the boarder at Huaguillas we cut through miles and miles of banana plantations. Bananas everywhere. Then back up into the Andes once again and the scent of pine. The road was great. Ecuador is really beautiful and the people are so friendly. We arrived in Cuenca with plenty of time to find a nice place and head out for a beer, only to discover alcohol is not served in Ecuador on Sundays. Crap. Yet, Cuenca is probably the nicest city so far. Really. Old buildings, narrow cobble stone streets, very few gringos, colorful and very clean. Ma would like it. Too bad the flight is so far, huh, Pops?
