Laguna Quilotoa, Central Highlands, Ecuador 13-8-2010

It continued to rain. I asked three different old-timers if the clouds and rain were par for August and when they thought it might let up. All 3 thought by early October for sure. With that, we packed up our bikes and headed for Quilotoa, a lake inside an old volcano. It either rained or rained liked like a faucet on full most of the way there. Towards the end it let up and at the crater started to clear. We found a little hostel run by a little family. The boys had a good time climbing over the bike and trying on the gear. We got up early and went down into the crater. From there we headed off to the local market for lunch. Sunset brought on some amazing colors.
